Confidentiality, security and ethical approval
Data are stored in a dedicated server that is not connected to the web, and according to the standard requirements for data security. Data handling conforms with the confidentiality guidelines published in 2004 by the International Association of Cancer Registries and IARC (IARC Internal Report n° 3/2004; http://www.iacr.com.fr/images/doc/confidentiality2004.pdf) and with the relevant European regulation.The ISS regulation on personal data handling was published on the
Official Journal of Italian Legislative Acts in 2007 (Gazzetta Ufficiale n.197 of 25/8/2007).
The ISS regulation complies with the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003, English version available from the official web-site of the Privacy Authority http://www.garanteprivacy.it/web/guest/home/docweb/-/docweb-display/docweb/2427932) which is based on Directives 95/46/EC and 2002/58/EC.
The EUROCARE protocol received institutional approval as part of the CONCORD project from the Scientific Ethical Committee
(EC) of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in 2002. The process for an update of the ISS EC approval is currently ongoing.
